If a monastery were only for those who were holy in this world, then there would be very few or no monasteries. The monastery is a refuge for those who desire to become saints.
The following video has gotten some play on Youtube and has also been recommended by many friends of mine both in the blogosphere and also on facebook. I commend it to you. The monastery is the Hermitage of the Holy Cross located in Wayne, West Virginia and is under the jurisdiction of ROCOR (Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia).
So very inappropriate. . .

Fascinating! Thank you for posting it. I see your comments from time to time on Weedon's Blog and Pastoral Meanderings (I'm a Lutheran convert), but have never checked out your blog until now. Glad I looked.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteFr. Weedon is an old internet friend and I visit his site often; sometimes I can get on his nerves. But both he and Fr. Peters are doing a great service for the advancement of confessional Lutheranism and I heartily recommend their sites.
Please visit as often as you would like. I regret I'm not posting as much as I would like due to a new job starting and a new baby. And please tell me who you are. It's so much nicer to correspond with someone who has a name!
Congrats on the new job and the new baby! Anonymous is usually the way I go on the rare occasion I post. Anyway, my name is Nancy and I have been Lutheran for 7 years. This is where I belong, although, I have yet to eat creamed peas on toast! Weedon's blog was the first Lutheran one I found right after converting. Very helpful as is Pastoral Meanderings. For a brief time I looked at the Orthodox church, attending about 7 liturgys, etc. Beautiful, but just not where I belong. I still read Orthodox books and blogs, but I am Lutheran. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Nancy. Again, feel free to drop by any time.
